DEMANDING KOCHARIAN'S RESIGNATION DOES NOT STEM FROM OUR INTERESTS,
    NEW PARTY LEADER SAYS

YEREVAN, APRIL 20, ARMENPRESS: The second new Armenian party whose
establishment was announced today said its main policy will be to
present the interests of small and medium-sized businesses.
Addressing the delegates of the party's constituent congress,
Spartak Melikian, the leader of the party which is called Democracy
and Work said the main motto of the party will be "a deserved place
to small and medium businesses." He went on saying that the party
will try to bring together all "healthy" forces concerned with the
future of the country and the nation and who want to build a
prospering country, to ensure dominance of rule of law."
"We shall demand that both the authorities and the opposition be
guided by our national interests, which should be placed higher than
individual or party interests," he said, arguing that the
opposition's demand for Kocharian's resignation does not stem from
the people's interests, especially that the opposition does not offer
    realistic and constructive programs.
