I read with great interest the story about the Armenian Church that received damage in Baghdad... I must say that I had little knowledge that Iraq even had Armenian Churches let alone a community of Armenians… I must also admit that my interest goes beyond the bombing of the Church. Many years ago my Grandfather Alex Babaian built an Armenian Church in Baghdad. My Father Joseph Babaian told us the story many years ago. My father was born in 1909, and left Armenian as a young child during the genocide. Does anyone know how I might get address’ or a way of contacting the different Armenian Churches in Baghdad?.. It would be thrilling to find out if the church he helped build was still standing and maybe being used by Armenians still today. I don’t have the year of my Grandfathers birth but I would venture a guess that he was born in the Mid- 1800’s.. any help or direction would be great.. Thank you in advance.. Loretta Babaian
