EU to take concrete steps in case of real progress in Karabakh
By Tigran Liloyan
YEREVAN
EU special envoy for the South Caucasus Heike Talvitie said as soon
as the EU sees real progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh peaceful
settlement, it will take concrete steps towards upholding the OSCE
Minsk Group's efforts.
Talvitie said on Thursday he maintains close contacts with
co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group for Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.
The EU is ready to implement post-conflict programmes and ensure
confidence-building measures between the sides whether any progress
has been achieved at the talks, he added.
Meanwhile, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan said co-chairmen
of the OSCE Minsk Group are not planning to put forth any new
proposals as part of their trip to the region scheduled for July. The
visit will be of consultative nature, the minister pointed out.
"The talks between the presidents and foreign ministers of Armenia
and Azerbaijan yielded no results that would allow the mediators to
sign documents on the settlement of the conflict," the Armenian
minister emphasised.
