Karabakh hands over POW to Azerbaijan

Yerevan, 19 July: The Nagornyy Karabakh Republic State Commission for
Prisoners and Missing Persons handed over serviceman Aydin Huseynov to
the Azerbaijani side today at 1510 local time [1010 gmt] in the Agdam
sector of the contact line between the Nagornyy Karabakh and
Azerbaijani armed forces.
Aydin Huseynov, a 19-year-old from Baku, was arrested on 30 June this
year by NKR defence army servicemen in the eastern sector of the NKR
state border when he crossed the demarcation line.
Huseynov was handed over by decision of the NKR authorities with the
mediation of the Stepanakert representative office of the
International Committee of the Red Cross [ICRC], after the Azerbaijani
side's agreement to accept their serviceman was received at the end of
last week, Mediamax's special correspondent reports from Stepanakert.
ICRC representatives regularly visited Huseynov throughout his time in
the NKR and were given unfettered access to the Azerbaijani
serviceman.
