ARMENIA's INTEGRATION INTO EUROPE POSSIBLE THROUGH UNIFICATION OF ARMENIAN
AND EUROPEAN SCIENCES
YEREVAN, JULY 23. ARMINFO. Armenia's integration into Europe is
possible through achievement of a unity of the Armenian and European
sciences, Representative of the Research Directorate of the European
Commission in Armenia, Daniel Descotour said at a scientific seminar.
He said that the European science takes much interest in such spheres
of the Armenian science as nannotechnology, information technologies,
biology, space technologies and nuclear security. D.Descotour said
that Armenia will be included in European scientific programs, in
particular, in the Sixth Framework program, whose budget of totals 315
mln EUR for the CIS, as the prior directions of European sciences
coincides with the developed scientific spheres in Armenia. Joint
programs will be financed on the parity basis. Yesterday, the
delegation of the European Commission visited a number of scientific
institutions including in the structure of the National Academy of
Sciences of Armenia as well as the leading higher educational
institutions, wherein it got first hand information on the implemented
scientific and research programs.
Deputy Minister for Finance and Economy Pavel Safaryan said that the
state budget of Armenia envisages some $6 mln AMD allocations to the
scientific needs, and the financing will be increased by $1 mln yearly
during the next three years. Nevertheless, Safaryan said that this
financing helps maintaining and not developing the science in
Armenia. In this connection, the deputy minister pointed out the
necessity of nonbudgetary financing.
NASA President Fadey Sargsyan said that the budget of the National
Academy is formed from the state budget only partially, while some 45%
of financing is under international programs.
