PEOPLE AGAIN PICKETING FOR RELEASE OF POLITICAL PRIONERS

15 people assembled near Office of Prosecutor at the picket for the
political prisoners demanding to release them.
According to Gayane Esayan, Vice-Chair of "New Armenia" social
organization, about 7300 people signed for release of political
prisoners.
Yesterday Office of Prosecutor replied to the application of "New
Armenia", which demanded to substantiate why people are arrested for
their political convictions and whether there is any way to change
the preventive punishment.
Mr. S. Manukyan, head of Department for Control over Legality on
Investigation of Office of Prosecutor, wrote: "There are no reasons
to change the preventive punishment against Tigran Ter-Margaryan and
others. No person mentioned in your list is criminally persecuted for
expressing his political rights and especially convictions. Those
people are accused under concrete articles of the Criminal Code
of Armenia".
Vagharshak Harutyunyan, ex Defense Minister is among those persons.
