Yerevan, 10 June: The recent incidents on the border caused by the
Azerbaijani military's intention to move their positions deep into
the heart of Armenian territory will not bring about a resumption of
large-scale hostilities.
A Mediamax parliamentary correspondent reports that representatives
of the political forces included in the ruling coalition stated this
in Yerevan today.
Speaking at a briefing today, Gagik Melikyan, leader of the faction
of the Republican Party of Armenia, noted that Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliyev's recent statements have a less aggressive nature.
At the same time, the parliamentarian said that from time to time,
the Azerbaijani military takes actions directed at destabilizing the
situation. In particular, Melikyan said that during recent strikes
on the village of Berdaber in Armenia's Tavush District, the enemy
attempted to seize the water reservoir of the village.
For his part, Levon Lazarian, a member of the Dashnaktsutyun
parliamentary fraction, noted that "all such actions by the Azerbaijani
military are doomed to failure".
