KAZAKHSTAN: EURASIAN COMMUNITY FORUM APPROVES ACTION PLAN FOR 2003-06

Astana, 28 May: The inter-parliamentary assembly (IPA) of the Eurasian
Economic Community has approved an action programme as part of measures
to implement the priorities of the EAEC for 2003-06 and thereafter.
The programme "provides for a raft of measures aimed at forming a
single legal policy of the EAEC and adopting laws on priority areas",
Nurtay Abykayev, the new chairman of the IPA of the EAEC (and the
Speaker of the Senate, upper house, of the Kazakh parliament), told
the plenary session of the assembly today.
He said that the priority areas of the development of the EAEC for
2003-06 and thereafter and the measures to implement them had been
approved in February this year at the Interstate Council of the EAEC.
Abykayev said the action programme of the IPA provides for creating
a unified legal regulations, harmonizing national legislative bills,
carrying out a coordinated economic policy.
Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan are the members
of the EAEC. Ukraine, Moldova and Armenia hold observer's status.
