USA may increase military aid to Azerbaijan

    Assa-Irada, Azerbaijan
    Nov 23 2004

The US government has approved a draft law stipulating that a different
volume of military aid will be provided to Azerbaijan and Armenia in
    2005, unlike this year.

The US President's Bush administration has come up with a proposal
to provide more assistance to Azerbaijan, as the country may receive
    $6 million more than Armenia.

The US Armenian assembly has said that the bill allegedly envisages
providing $8.175 million to Azerbaijan and Armenia each.

Under the draft law, the United States plans to provide $75 million
worth of aid to Armenia in 2005, which is $13 million more than the
amount envisioned by the Bush administration.

The bill, which also envisions allocating humanitarian assistance
worth $3 million to the separatist regime of Upper Garabagh, will be
forwarded to President Bush after its approval by the US Senate.*
