BAKU, 20 September: Sir Brian Fall, the UK special representative for
the South Caucasus and a special representative of the British prime
minister for the celebrations in Baku of the 10th anniversary of the
Contract of the Century, has held a meeting with the chairman of the
standing parliamentary commission on defence and security, Ziyafat
Asgarov, and the head of the standing parliamentary commission on
international relations and interparliamentary contacts, Samad
Seyidov.
During the meeting, Sir Brian Fall expressed the position of the
British government on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
"We do not forget about the fact of occupation of Karabakh and seven
adjacent districts. Although Great Britain is not a member of the OSCE
Minsk Group, as members of the UN Security Council we constantly
follow this situation and expect a solution in line with international
legal norms. We are interested in a consensus in resolving the
Karabakh conflict. And we understand that certain progress is already
discernible."
