"The people of Nagornyy Karabakh have the right to participate in the
adoption of decisions that are fateful for it. I see a niche through
which Nagornyy Karabakh will take its place at the negotiating table,"
the OSCE chairman-in-office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij
Rupel, said during his meeting with the president of the Nagornyy
Karabakh Republic [NKR], Arkadiy Gukasyan, the press service of the
NKR Foreign Ministry reported today.
Rupel said that the OSCE is making every effort to speed up this issue
by summer this year and is waiting for a certain initiative from the
Karabakh side, according to the source. "If Nagornyy Karabakh, Armenia
and Azerbaijan want, I think it possible to organize trilateral
meetings in Slovenia in spring or summer this year," the OSCE
chairman-in-office said.
He considers that at the moment, the Karabakh conflict is accepted by
the international community as a dispute between Armenia and
Azerbaijan, which does not actually reflect the reality.
