Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Markaryan hopes that the process of
recognition of the Armenian genocide by members of the European Union
will be continued this year too.
"Certain positive changes are expected this year," he said.
Speaking to journalists at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial [to the
victims of the 1915 Armenian massacre in Ottoman Turkey] on 24 April,
Markaryan said Armenia was interested not only in Turkey's recognition
of the Armenian genocide but also in the opening of the
Armenian-Turkish border, establishment of diplomatic relations and
development of economic cooperation.
"The process of recognition will facilitate these issues," the
Armenian prime minister said.
