Major Commemoration Event in Antelias
The AGCC organized a public commemoration in the Armenian Catholicossate of
Cilicia on the 23rd of April. The gathering was attended by the Armenian
ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Mr. Arek Hovannesian, representatives of the
Armenian political and social organizations in Lebanon and presided by the
three religious denominations leaders.
After the opening statement, the three religious leaders spoke about the
importance of keeping the Armenian Genocide alive in the memory of the world.
Afterwards taking the stand, Mr. Hovannesian assured in his statement that the
Armenian State is seriously committed to keep the issue of the international
recognition of the Armenian Genocide on the top of its foreign affairs agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Mrs. Seta Khedeshian stressed
upon the policy of denial implemented by the successive Turkish governments in
the previous 90 years. She pointed out that despite the policy of denial and
the attempts of concealing the truth, the wall of silence around the Armenian
Genocide has been broken and the number of States recognizing the Armenian
Genocide is constantly increasing.
Finally, she reminded that never in history a just cause has been lost,
especially if there is a Nation fighting for it.
