SETTLEMENT OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT IS IN INTERESTS OF BOTH
ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN, CE SECRETARY GENERAL DECLARES
STRASBOURG, APRIL 27. ARMINFO. "I will not allow that the report of
David Atkinson regarding Nagorny Karabakh served as an ground for
anybody to use violence. On the contrary, it is said in the report
that using force is not a way of settlement of the Karabakh conflict",
Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis stated,
answering the question of ARMINFO during the news conference in
Strasbourg.
If a party starts military operations in the zone of the Karabakh
conflict then the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will
immediately react that and take preventive measures, not waiting for a
decision of PACE, Terry Davis said. He reminded that the mediatory
mandate in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict belongs to the OSCE
Minsk Group. "CE is not trying to change the structure of OSCE Minsk
Group and the activity of the cochairmen, we are trying to support and
help the cochairmen in solving this problem", he said. According to
him, the cochairmen are doing a huge work on reconciliation of the
conflicting parties. "The settlement of the Karabakh conflict is in
the interests of both Armenia and Azerbaijan", CE secretary stressed.
