/PanARMENIAN.Net/ «There are tasks to be solved by historians before the
passing of a political decision over establishment of ties between Turkey
and Armenia. If you can document your claims of the Armenian Genocide, we
are ready to acknowledge the results right away. However, be ready to accept
the outcomes of investigations.» Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
addressed this statement to Armenian President Robert Kocharian. Thus,
Erdogan evaluated Kocharian's response to the proposal to form a joint
commission with participation of representatives of both states to
investigate the claims on the Genocide. In Erdogan's words, he has read
Kocharian's letter from the beginning to the end. «We have announced all
archives open to everyone. If you do want to find the truth, you should open
your archives, too. If you come out based on archive documents, let other
countries open their archives, too. Let historians consider the problem and
express their opinion. The history of Turks has never put us in a hard
situation. We are not a nation to deny the historical truth. One again - we
base ourselves on documents. We are sure we will turn out to be right
again,» the Turkish Premier stated. Erdogan also said that he had demanded
opening Armenian archives in the European Parliament as well. «The issue is
so much exaggerated that you can attain nothing by lobbying the situation.
We base ourselves on historical documents and we state that no genocide was
perpetrated against the Armenian people. Document it. We are ready to accept
any outcomes of the investigation,» he summed up, reported the Gazeta SNG
(CIS newspaper).
