System of a Down will hit town Oct. 11
Fresno Bee (California)
August 3, 2005, Wednesday FINAL EDITION
The Fresno Bee
Heavy metal band System of a Down, known for its trademark songs about
Armenian political and social issues as well as for its goatees and
style of dress, is coming to town.
Members of the Glendale alt-metal band are Serj Tankian, John Dolmayan,
Daron Malakian and Shavo Odajian. They cite Black Sabbath and Slayer as
influences and play a variety of instruments, from sitars, mandolins
and guitars to East Asian instruments. Their style incorporates punk,
jazz, fusion, folk, classic rock, blues and industrial music.
System of a Down will perform Oct. 11 at the Save Mart Center, along
with the Mars Volta and Hella. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m.
Saturday at the Save Mart Center Box Office, Save Mart supermarkets,
online at www.ticketmaster.com and by phone at (559) 485-8497. Prices
are $45, $37.50 and $32.50.
At the Save Mart Center box office, random numbers will be issued
beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Overnight camping is prohibited,
and everyone who gets a number will have an equal chance at being
first in line.
Anyone arriving after the start of that drawing will be placed in
line only after all the numbers have been drawn. Only one number will
be issued per customer, and anyone with more than one number will be
moved to the end of the line.
Ticket buyers must be 12 years of age or older and be able to complete
a transaction to receive a random number. The number does not guarantee
a ticket, only a place in line. The numbers will be honored only at
the Save Mart Center Box Office, and they are nontransferable.
When the starting number is announced, customers will begin lining
up in the order in which their number is called. Ticket limits --
tickets sold per customer -- will be posted on the box office windows
if applicable.
Patrons in need of handicapped-accessible seating must mention that
need at the ticket window. Only one wheelchair ticket and one companion
ticket will be sold at a time.
