VENICE COMMISSION ADVISING TO CONTINUE THE PROCESS

Although the NA session was not over today and it will most probably
continue tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, the Venice Commission
secretary Gianni Buquicchio and his delegation will not arrive
in Armenia, and their message was read today by the EU special
representative to Armenia Boyana Urumova.
Buquicchio's message said that although the draft constitution is
not ideal, it is not bad enough to be said «No» to. According to
Buquicchio, the draft has won the approval of the Commission. Maybe
there are people who would like to see another, more democratic
Armenia, but the Constitution is improved in process, and first of
all the draft amendments must be adopted and put into vigor.
Gianni Buquicchio thanked Tigran Torosyan and called the opposition
to continue working constructively with the present powers.
