AZERBAIJAN STUDYING KAZAN MEETING RESULTS - FOREIGN MINISTER

    Assa-Irada, Azerbaijan
    Aug 30 2005

    Baku, August 29, AssA-Irada

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov says Azerbaijan is analyzing the
results of the meeting of Azeri and Armenian presidents in Kazan,
Russia held on Saturday. He positively assessed the outcome of the
meeting but did not indicate when the talks will yield results.

"I can't say that there is a precise agreement. I cannot answer this
question as long as the negotiations continue."

The Minister said that clarifying the details of the talks is also
difficult at this point. "Since the negotiations are held in a complex
manner, speaking of this is meaningless."

Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan is interested in continuing the
talks. "But laying out a concrete position is premature. We should
analyze the results of the Kazan meeting first. We should think and
adjust Armenia's proposals to Azerbaijan's stance."

Touching on the timeframe for the next meeting, the Minister said
the sides agreed to consider it after analyzing the results of the
Kazan meeting. The sides will hold consultations with the mediating
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs on the matter, he added.*
