GREAT LENT SEASON SERVICES INITIATED IN ANTELIAS
Antelias, Lebanon - The services to be held during the forty days
of the Great Lent season were initiated by a sunrise service held
on Wednesday, the 9th of February in St. Gregory the Illuminator
Cathedral. The sermons of the coming days will concern issues related
to spiritual and moral reawakening.
In order to further involve the people in the church services, the
Christian Education Department of the Catholicosate of Cilicia had
in the last few years published a book containing the hymns of the
Sunrise and Lenten Vespers services. Two years ago the Catholicosate
also published a book of the Sunrise and Lenten Vespers services
in both archaic and modern Armenian. Thanks to these initiatives,
church attendants have started to participate in the services held
during the Great Lent season.
