'THE RHYTHM OF ARMENIAN LIFE RESEMBLES THE INNER RHYTHM OF PARAJANOV'S FILMS'

The Golden Apricot international film festival represented Abbas
Kiarostami, one of the prominent contemporary Iranian film directors,
    to the Armenian art lovers.

"The Armenian culture had an obvious impact on the Iranians. Though
the number of the Iranian Armenians has decreased, the positive
influence of the Armenian culture on our country hasn't weakened
yet. I am in Armenia for few days, but I already feel the rhythm of
Armenia's life that resembles the inner rhythm of Parajanov's films,"
    he said.

Kiarostami said that "Mariam" the film by Eduard Baghdasarian was one
of the best films he saw lately.

Kiarostami is one of the film directors that create the army of
spectators that appreciate their art. There are no characters in his
films, as Kiarostami believes that the image of a hero has disappeared
in the contemporary cinema. Though his films undergo censorship in
Iran, they are considered to be among the best examples of
contemporary cinema. In particular, we can name "Underthe Olive Trees"
that contains subtly shot erotic frames.
