ARCHITECTURE DEPARTMENT OF YEREVAN MUNICIPALITY IS ENGAGED IN
POLITICAL CENSORSHIP
YEREVAN, JULY 14. ARMINFO. Instead of watching on architectural look
of the blighted capital, architectural department of Yerevan
municipality has been engaged in political censorship. Thus,
department's officials have forbidden recently to put up a poster
saying "Whether it becomes impossible to live in the motherland?"
elaborated on the public initiative of the Association of Friends and
Workers of Armenia's Museums. As informed at a today's meeting
Association's Head Marine Aroyan, the refusal was motivated by that
the poster was politicized enough.
The Association was created in 2004 having an aim to join the
potential of museums' workers and find new ways for the development of
museum-business in Armenia. The Association includes 30 museums, 40
museum workers are its members. They organize joint exhibitions,
expositions, conduct seminars and cooperate actively with both the
UNESCO and the "Soros Foundation" International Benevolent
Organization. Owing to this cooperation, country's 4 museums have
received small grants on fulfilling visitors' attraction programs -
the most actual problem for Armenian museums.
