EUROPEAN COMMISSION AND GOVERNMENT ENGAGED IN DEVELOPMENT OF ENP PLAN OF ACTIONS

YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS: An official of the European Commission's
Delegation to Georgia and Armenia told Armenpress the European
Commission and the government of Armenia have opened talks for
development of a plan of actions which Armenia should submit to
European Neighborhood Policy as a country chosen to join this
initiative.
Jacques Vantomme, an advisor with delegation, and also chief of a
department for economic, political and media issues, said the plan
of actions will focus on strengthening of rule of law, democratic
institutions, human rights and basic freedoms, improvement of
struggle against fraudulent activity and corruption, tax and customs
administration, sustainable development and upgrading civic sector.
He said the plan of actions will also include a provision on closing
down the Armenian Metsamor nuclear power and a special attention
will be given to ending regional conflicts and boosting regional
cooperation.
