FRANCE VERY MUCH INTERESTED IN KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT: FRENCH SENATOR
YEREVAN, JUNE 23. ARMINFO. The French Senate is doing its best to
improve Armenian-Azeri relations, the 525th newspaper (Baku) reports
the leader of the Senate French-Azeri parliamentary friendship group
Ambroise Dupont as saying.
The OSCE MG co-chair countries are not a decisive factor in the
Karabakh peace process - they are just an arbiter. It is for the
conflicting nations to settle the problem. The Karabakh conflict is a
very hard issue that should be settled only by peace.
Dupont says that the economic importance of the South Caucasus is
growing - so the South Caucasian countries should want regional peace
the most.
Dupont refrains from answering the question if France will support
settlement based on Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. "I cannot say
at what stage the talks are. I just want to say that France is very
much interested in the conflict resolution." "I think that the
historical ties between the Azeri and the Armenians and their will
should lead to the conflict resolution," says Dupont.
