STEPAN DEMIRCHYAN: POST-ELECTORAL EVENTS IN ARMENIA DIFFER FROM
SITUATION IN UKRAINE AND GEORGIA
YEREVAN, MARCH 2. ARMINFO. The post-electoral events in Armenia differ
from the situations in Ukraine and Georgia: Ukrainian and Georgian
authorities did not resort to force regarding their own people, Leader
of opposition "Justice" bloc, NA deputy Stepan Demirchyan stated at a
press-conference at the National press-club, Mar 2.
Demirchyan stated that "Justice" bloc advocates the European
integration but not the imitation of democracy. He said that the
strategic partnership with Russia should be established, but not the
bargains like "Property against debts". "Justice" bloc highly
appreciates the USA assistance to Armenia and cooperates with the
National Democracy Institute (NDI) for about 5 years. At the same
time, the bloc categorically disputes the fulfillment of power
changing from the outside. Demirchyan noted that they have enough
potential to solve this problem by themselves and added that the
present illegitimate power is doomed, does not enjoy the support of
the society and will leave. -r-
