    RA MFA ENCOURAGES THE PROCESS OF UNITING CHINESE NATION

    YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. RA MFA encourages the process of uniting
    Chinese nation, as Hamlet Gasparyan, the Press Secretary of MFA
    stated about it answering ARKA~Rs question in regard with adopting of
    a law ~SAgainst Secession~T by All-Chinese Assembly of Deputies,
    according to RA MFA Press Service. ~SArmenia has always watched the
    process of uniting Chinese nation in the frames of the motherland and
    expressed its sympathy and encouragement to the process of
    restoration of historical justice. The position of Armenia towards
    the issue of acknowledging the principle of a united China is
    reflected in the declaration signed by the Presidents of the two
    countries. We hope that efforts to restore Chinese nation, including
    adoption of the law ~SAgainst Secession~T will enable to settle the
    issue of Taiwan peacefully~T, according to the press release. A.H.

    DEPUTY COMMANDER OF US TROOPS IN EUROPE TO VISIT ARMENIA

    YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. Deputy Commander of the US troops in
    Europe, General Charles Wald is to arrive in Armenia late in March,
    the Propaganda and Information Department, RA Ministry of Defense
    told ARKA. At their meeting today, RA Minister of Defense Serge
    Sargsyan and US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to
    Armenia John Evans discussed the details of the General~Rs visit.
    Speaking of the current level of the Armenian-American military
    cooperation, Minister Sargsyan pointed out that Armenia~Rs cooperation
    with the European command of the USA and NATO is steadily developing.

    LAUNCHING OF THE REPUBLICAN PROJECT ~SMY SCHOOL LIBRARY~T TO TAKE PLACE
    ON MARCH 22 IN YEREVAN

    YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. Launching of the Republican Project ~SMy
    School Library~T will take place on March 22 in Yerevan. According to
    the Armenian Center for Development of Russian, the project is
    implemented by the Center with the support of RA Ministry of
    Education and Science, RF Embassy in RA, The Russian Foreign Center
    Representative Office in RA, RA National Library, Central Library
    after Av. Isahakyan and Armenian State Teacher~Rs Training Institute
    after Kh. Abovyan. The goal of the project is to increase the
    authority of school library and reader, encourage reading as the most
    important instrument for learning the world, contribute to raising
    culture of reading among pupils.
    The project is implemented in four stages. During the first stage
    schools participants will organize an action, which will consist of
    aid of pupils to school library in restoration of textbooks and
    library fund. The second stage implies holding meetings with teachers
    and students of philological departments of state Universities of
    Armenia. The third stage implies holding round-table discussions on
    the matter at schools. The fourth stage implies holding a contest-
    quiz on works of Armenian, Russian and foreign writers and poets.
    5-8-grade students of 18 schools of Yerevan with advanced learning of

    ROBERT KOCHARYAN: ANNOUNCING THE YEAR OF 2005 AS THAT OF RF IN RA
    GIVES OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF ARMENIAN ~VRUSSIAN
    RELATIONS

    YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. Announcing the year of 2005 as that of RF
    in RA gives opportunities for the further development of Armenian
    ~VRussian relations, according to the message of the RA President
    Robert Kocharyan to RF President Vladimir Putin. ~SThe initiative will
    contribute to the realization of the potential of cooperation between
    our nations in the field of politics, economy and culture~T, according
    to the message. According to the RA President~Rs Press Service,
    Kocharyan expressed his firm belief that holding a year of Russia in
    Armenia will add to the agenda of the Armenian-Russian relations with
    new ideas and projects. ~SArmenia has a special attitude to Russian
    culture and looks forward to meeting with cultural workers of Russia.
    Communication between representatives of science and education,
    business circles of our states as well as contacts at regional level
    may be of special importance~T, he said.
    As it~Rs noted in the message of Putin to Kocharyan, according to
    Interfax, ~SRussia attaches much importance to consistent
    strengthening of friendly relations with Armenia, which is a reliable
    ally and strategic partner. I am sure that holding the Year of Russia

    ARMENIAN PRESIDENT ROBERT KOCHARYAN RELIEVED ARMENIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN
    MINISTER TATUL MARKARYAN FROM HIS DUTY ON MONDAY APPOINTING HIM TO
    THE POST OF ARMENIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED STATES

    YEREVAN, March 21. /ARKA/. Armenian President Robert Kocharyan
    relieved Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Tatul Markaryan from his
    duty on Monday appointing him to the post of Armenian Ambassador to
    the United States. According to Armenian Presidential Press Service,
    Armenian Ambassador to the U.S. was dismissed under the President
    decree issued on Saturday.
    Tatul Margaryan was born in 1964 in Kapan, Armenia. He was graduated
    from Yerevan State Institute of Economy in 1985 and became Ph. Dr. in
    1989. He continued his education at John Hopkins University and got
    Master~Rs degree in foreign relations.
    Magraryan is person working for doctor's degree at London University
    >>From 1994 to 1998, Margaryan worked as Adviser in Armenian Embassy in
    the U.S.A, then Extraordinary Envoy and Plenipotentiary Minister,
    Deputy Head of Diplomatic Mission. Margaryan has worked at the post
    of Deputy Armenian Foreign Minister since 2000. Between 2002 and 2003
    was a Special Envoy of Armenian President at negotiations over
