Public Television of Armenia, Yerevan3 May 05
[Azerbaijani President] Ilham Aliyev has refused to take part in the
CIS summit to be held in Moscow on 8 May. The Azerbaijani presidential
press service reported that Ilham Aliyev would not participate in
the meeting due to [Armenian President] Robert Kocharyan's presence.
The source reported that 8 May was a sad day for Ilham Aliyev. Armenian
forces seized the town of Susa on 8 May 1992 and therefore, the
Azerbaijani president considers it impossible to attend the summit
where the Armenian president will also be present.
Aliyev will arrive in Moscow the next day to participate in the
celebrations of the 60th anniversary of victory over fascism in World
War II.
The press service of the Armenian president has recalled that the
Armenian city of Susa was liberated from Azerbaijani occupation on
9 May and that this day is celebrated in Armenia and the Nagornyy
Karabakh Republic.
