THE STUDENT INTELLIGENCY COMMENTING ON TERRORISM

"Terrorism is an evil any country can face any time. Taking into
account that the RA and the NKR are in a very complex political
situation, it is possible that in case of military actions terrorist
acts be organized in the center of Yerevan or Stepanakert". This is
the opinion of Mihran Hakobyan, student of the Yerevan State University
International Relations faculty magistrate and head of the University
Student Council.
Today by the initiative of the YSU SC a conference with the theme
«Challenges of International Terrorism and Armenia» took place. The
investigations of the YSU aspirants and students were about the present
political developments, international terrorism and combat against
it, the terrorist character of the policy of Turkey and Azerbaijan,
and the state of Armenia.
Mihran Hakobyan has concluded by his investigations that the Armenian
nation has been object to terrorism in the initial stage of the Artsakh
war and even before that - in 1915-1920. On February 20 in 1988 a
decision was made that Karabakh must be attached to Armenia. They
applied to Baku, Yerevan and Moscow, a week after which the Sumgayit
massacres took place.
«It was a terrorist act after which immediately came the «Kaltso
operation».Factually, the problem is that Azerbaijan together with
the Soviet authorities wanted to terrify a whole nation», thinks
the YSU student.
The conference will be continues by various actions. The students aim
at convincing the international community that the Republic of Armenia
is one of the countries which have been subject to terrorism. According
to Mihran Hakobyan, the world must understand that the first phase of
the Artsakh war was terrorism. «This conference was also important for
the fact that the students are considered to be the most intellectual
people. They must express their opinion and be able to combat that
evil by all the possible means», says Mihran.
By the way, the YSU students have decide to form working groups
and to make an announcement according to which the Armenian nation
has a clear-cut position, considers terrorism a negative phenomenon
and will combat against it together with the civilized world. These
announcements will be spread both to the Embassies in Armenia and to
the international organizations.
