Germany is ready to assist the process and open its sources for
the historian", German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder stated in
Ankara. During the meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan Mr. Schroeder supported the proposal on the formation of a
joint commission for the investigation of the fact of the Armenian
Genocide."I hope Armenia understands the delicacy of the situatio",
the German Chancellor noted. When touching upon the possibility of
Turke's EU membership Gerhard Schroeder stated that the referendum
on the European Constitution scheduled for May 29 in France will by
no means affect the process. In his turn Erdogan expressed concern
over"Bundesta's appeal to Turkey to assess its pas", RFE/RL reported.
