OMBUDSMAN OF AZERBAIJAN ADDRESSES ICRC FOR LIBERATION OF POWS

Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Ms. Elmira Suleymanova has addressed Mr.
Jacob Kellenberger, President of the International Committee of the
Red Cross (ICRC), its Azerbaijan and Armenia representations, as well
as Jose Alvaro Hill-Robles, the human rights commissioner of the COE
for liberation of the Azerbaijani servicemen - Tagiyev Hukmet Adam
oglu, Abdullayev Khayal Idris oglu and Bashirov Ruslan Khagani oglu
who were captured on February 15, 2005.
The Address says that according to official returns, there are some
500 Azerbaijani captives in Armenia. Despite the ceasefire reached in
1994, the Republic of Armenia regularly violates it. Though several
international organizations, relevant structures are involved in the
issue, the abovementioned servicemen are still in captive.
Ms. Suleymanova has requested the said organizations to render
assistance in liberation of the three Azerbaijani servicemen.
