'OCTOBER' CINEMA OPENS IN GYUMRI
The Gyumri-based "October" cinema reopened its doors to the cinema lovers.
This cinema has been a favorite place for many generations of Gyumri
residents and one of the most important cultural centers of the city. The
building was planned by Ghazaros Sargsian, the architect, in 1926. After the
earthquake in 1988, the building was reconstructed and used as a restaurant.
But last year, by the decree of Gyumri Municipality, the building was sold
to the Yerevan based "Moskva" Cinema ltd. The company fully renovated the
building. At present, it keeps in line with the modern criteria and is
equipped in the best way.
Many famous artists of Armenia, actors and directors, the officials of the
city were present at the opening ceremony of "October" cinema. Ridley Scot's
"The Kingdom of Heaven" was the newly shot film was the first to be shown
here after the opening ceremony.
The leadership of the cinema house promised to provide the cinemagoers with
all the new films and restore the good traditions of "October" cinema.
