Armenian president, Turkish PM `likely to meet' in Warsaw
Baku, May 11, AssA-Irada
Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Turkish Prime Minister Recep
Tayyib Erdogan will most likely meet within the Council of Europe
summit in Warsaw May 16-17, Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul
said in a meeting with ambassadors of EU states in Ankara.
`Turkey is often urged to open its border with Armenia. However, with
nothing in return, we cannot do this. In particular, the Armenian
Diaspora opposes the development of Turkish-Armenian relations and
pursues an improper policy of interference.'
Turkish premier Erdogan lately said `the meeting with Kocharian in
Moscow was not planned, as Ankara did not receive such a request'.
`If Armenia fulfils its commitments, Turkey will do its best to
ensure a fair and long-term solution of regional problems', said
Erdogan.
The Armenian President's administration said it is unaware of the
planned Kocharian-Erdogan meeting.*
