Yerevan, 18 May: "We are welcoming the latest meeting of the Armenian
and Azerbaijani presidents, Robert Kocharyan and Ilham Aliyev, in
Warsaw. I think it is being hailed by everyone," the US ambassador
to Armenia, John Evans, has said.
He said the US government understands that the Nagornyy Karabakh
conflict is a complicated issue and it is impossible to reach an
agreement on it overnight.
"But we are pleased with the dialogue," John Evans said. The ambassador
refused to comment on the process of dialogue, adding that the
issue was dealt with by the US co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group,
Steven Mann.
Robert Kocharyan and Ilham Aliyev discussed a negotiated settlement
to the Nagornyy Karabakh conflict in Warsaw on 15 May and decided
that the negotiations should be continued by the foreign ministers
of the two countries.
