The Russian-Armenian Business Cooperation Union began its activities
in Armenia and opened its first sitting on May 17. Volodya Badalian,
head of the Armenian branch of the union, stated that their union
was shaped, registered and established last year. He added that RA
President Robert Kocharian is the honorable chairman of their union.
Nikolay Rizhkov, chairman of the union, said that the Russian
delegation participated in the inter-parliamentary meetings in
Yerevan. At present they continue their activities within the framework
of the company's programs.
Nikolay Rizhkov touched upon the Russian-Armenian relations,
emphasizing that the bilateral political relations between these
two countries are highly developed, while the economic aspect
still needs to be developed, as the current model of the country's
economy doesn't allow the state to settle all the issues. Thus,
the entrepreneurs should work in new economic conditions, creating
terms for the activization of the economic cooperation between the
two countries.
At present, the union has solved the organizational issues. It has
representatives in 52 regions of the Russian Federation, while the
first branch was opened in Armenia. The union has opened branches
in Czech Republic, Germany, Kazakhstan, as well as in Byelorussia
and Abkhazia.
Nikolay Rizhkov emphasized that one should more actively connect
Armenia and the southern region of Russia where there are many
Armenians to more actively develop the cooperation.
Grigory Kharchenko, another representative of the union, stated that
the decreasing goods turnover between Russia and Armenia has many
reasons. Particularly, he pointed out that even the Armenians have
difficulties when they try to enter the Armenian market, as they have
to overcome many obstacles for that.
In general, the entrepreneurs were not satisfied with the current
situation in the bilateral economic relations, though they stated that
there are many opportunities to contribute to their development. On
May 18 the delegation will continue its activities, particularly,
they will visit Gyumri and Spitak.
