SPEAKER OF ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT MEETS WITH CHAIRMAN OF EUROPEAN
PARLIAMENT
YEREVAN, MAY 24. ARMINFO. To accede to the European Union Turkey must
fulfill all the requirements, among which lifting the blockade of
borders with Armenia and to admit Armenian Genocide in Ottoman
Turkey. Chairman of the European Parliament Joseph Borel state during
the meeting with Speaker of National Assembly of Armenia Arthur
Baghdasarian in Brussels.
The chairman of the European Parliament said that Armenia shows
constructive attitude to the issue of normalization of the relations
with Turkey, one cannot say about Ankara. Joseph Borel stated that the
region of the South Caucasus is in the center of attention of the
European parliament. According to him, the European parliament always
highlights the problems of the South Caucasian republic, as EU
countries want to keep relationship with stable states. He also
mentioned that the European parliament is ready to provide assistance
in establishment of South-Caucasian parliamentary assembly, which will
promote settlement of regional problems, Joseph Borel thinks. At the
request of the chairman of the European parliament Arthur Baghdasarian
presented the process of the democratic reforms in Armenia. Arthur
Baghdasarian invited Joseph Borel to pay an official visit to
Armenia. The invitation was accepted.
