May 25 in Hague the Armenian delegation headed by NA Speaker Arthur
Baghdasaryan discussed the establishment of parliamentary ties with
President of the Chamber of Representatives Frans Weisglas. By request of
Mr. Weisglas the delegation members presented the situation in the South
Caucasus and Armenia's position on the issue.
Agreeing on cooperation in international structures the parties discussed
the issues referring to the cooperation within EU New Neighborhood Program
with Senate President Ivon Timerman. The Armenia-Turkey relations were as
well touched upon. To note, Arthur Baghdasaryan invited his Dutch colleagues
to Armenia. .
RA NA Chairman and delegation members also met with the representatives of
the commissions for home and foreign affairs. The meeting proved that the
Armenian-Dutch parliamentary relations present a big potential for close
cooperation. The parties stressed the necessity of applying the Dutch
legislative experience in Armenia as well as the Netherlands' contribution
to Armenia's integration into the European structures. Agreement on
formation of a center of education and training of invalids was also
achieved.
The delegation member also met with head of the Organisation for the
Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Rogelio Pfitfer and the Chairman of the
International Justice Court.
