VENICE COMMISSION - SCARECROW FOR ARMENIAN SOCIETY
YEREVAN, MAY 27. ARMINFO. The CE Venice Commission has become a
scarecrow in the eyes of Armenian society, says the leader of the
Republican party Galoust Sahakyan.
In the process of constitutional reforms there are issues that are
beyond the commission's competence and should be resolved in
compliance with Armenia's interests. Meanwhile some provisions of the
draft constitutional amendments criticized by the commission should be
reconsidered this referring to the status of Yerevan's mayor, the
election of the Justice Council president, dual nationality,
government formation.
Sahakyan urges all the government and opposition parties to actively
support the draft constitutional amendments.
