YEREVAN, APRIL 4, NOYAN TAPAN. About 150 writers of Armenia, Artsakh,
Javakhk as well as colonies of Diaspora will participate in the 3rd
All-Armenian Writers' Forum to take place in Beirut on April 6-9. A
number of reports will be made within the framework of the forum held
under the patronage of Aram I Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia,
as well as an exhibition of the Armenian book will be organized where
250 books having been published in Armenia during the recent years
will be presented. As Levon Ananian, the Chairman of the Writers'
Union of Armenia informed at the April 3 press-conference, the forum
gives an opportunity "to join literary created in the Eastern Armenian
and Western Armenian literary field." According to him, such forums
support formation of the Armenia-Diaspora literary bridge. "Though the
writers' cooperation gradually becomes deeper, there are still numerous
problems which must be gradually discussed and solved," the Chairman
of the Writers' Union of Armenia mentioned. According to L.Ananian,
Beirut is one of those rare centers where the Armenian literary
traditions continue, the Armenian culture develops." According to him,
young writers continue to create there today as well, "what gives
opportunity to think that tomorrow's day of the Diasporan Armenian
literary hasn't stopped in colonies yet." According to Ambassador of
Lebanon to Armenia Jebrail Jaara, it's impossible to imangine Lebanon
without Armenians as they have great influence on both policy and
economy and culture of Lebanon. The Ambassador expressed hope that the
forum will be held at a high level. J.Jaara also mentioned that if
he leaves Armenia, he will take two carpets with him, with pictures
of Armenian letters and Armenian khachkars (cross stones), which,
according to him, contain the Armenian culture and history in them.
