COE SECRETARY GENERAL SUGGESTS CREATING A FACT-FINDING MISSION

Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis said in his
exclusive interview to MEDIAMAX Agency that he has suggested to
create a fact-finding mission and to send it to all those regions,
which report about the destruction of historic monuments.
"We are civilized people and we should be concerned about the fate of
the monuments being destroyed. We are obliged to respect each other's
culture and religion," CoE Secretary General said.
Terry Davis noted that he does not know yet what steps PACE will
undertake in this direction, noting that the issue of creating
a fact-finding mission has been discussed with the leadership of
Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"I'll be glad if the PACE supports my initiative," Terry Davis noted.
