The egg is the symbol for resurrection and a new life.
And the red color symbolizes the blood Jesus poured
for the salvation of the humanity.
As for the custom of egg dyeing, Saint Grigor
Tatevatsi said, `The egg is an example of the world:
the shell is like the sky, the membrane is the air,
the egg-white is the water and the yolk is the earth.
The red color symbolizes the salvation of the world by
the blood of the Christ'.
