NO USED TOYS, SHOES AND PCS TO ENTER ARMENIA

145 organizations carried out charity programs costing
    AMD 41,84 billion in 2005. Simon Ter-Simonian,
chairman of RA Commission for Coordination of
Benevolence Programs at RA Government, said this to a
press conference April 13. He added that various
organizations carried out works and provided with
services costing AMD 26,92 billion. Besides, the
benevolence organizations sent to Armenia 14,92
billion of humanitarian aid. Simonian stated that the
import of the humanitarian aid decreased by 3,5
billion, as compared to the data of 2004. He explained
this by the ban on import of used Pentium 1 and
Pentium 2 computers and toys. Ter-Simonian said that
many organizations used to import second-hand
computers to Armenia, as their utilization would cost
much cheaper here. He said that he will put ban on
importing Pentium 3 computers within the framework of
    benevolence programs this year.

Almost 70% of the humanitarian aid imported in Armenia
are drugs and medical equipment. Such countries as the
USA, Switzerland, Iran and Germany rendered
humanitarian aid to Armenia in 2005.
