KOCHARIAN MEETS PUTIN IN SOCHI

The delegation headed by the Armenian President Robert Kocharian
arrived today in Sochi to participate in the non-official summit of the
Eurasian Economic Association conducted in Sochi August 15-17. Armenia
is participating in the summit as an observer.
At the airport Robert Kocharian was met by the governor of Krasnodar
province Alexander Tkachov, Russian deputy foreign minister and
executive secretary of Eurasian Economic Association Grigori Rapota
and Armenian consul in Sochi Vardan Azoyan.
The agenda of the summit includes the following issues: formation of
customs union within the scope of the organization, establishment of
a system of international centers for rendering services of nuclear
cycle on basis of nondiscrimination access, water-energy regulation
in the Central Asia and establishment of the Eurasian water-economy
consortium, deepening of cooperation between the Community and
Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as well as issues
related to Uzbekistan's joining the CSTO, ARKA reported.
Member countries of the EurAsEC are Byelorussia, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Armenia, Moldova and
Ukraine obtain the status of observers under the EurAsEC.
The treaty on establishment of the EurAsEC was signed in the capital of
Kazakhstan Astan on October 10, 2000, by the presidents of Byelorussia,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Later Uzbekistan joined
the Community.
