REFERENDUM ON KARABAKH TO PREVENT SETTLEMENT OF CONFLICT - FM

A constitutional referendum" in Nagorno-Karabakh will prevent the
settlement of the conflict in the whole region, the Azerbaijani
Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
"An illegal referendum and its results will not have any legal
effect. Any document of Nagorno-Karabakh's self-determination may be
realised through a legal, democratic and peaceful process with the
equal participation of Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of the
region," the statement says.
Azerbaijan does not recognise such acts, which "fully run counter
the efforts aimed at ensuring a lasting peace and stability in the
region," the document stresses.
