EXPORTS FROM ARMENIA GROW BY 2.3% AND IMPORTS BY 20.9% IN JANUARY-OCTOBER 2006 ON SAME MONTHS OF LAST YEAR

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. By the data of the State Customs
Committee adjunct to the RA government, Armenia's foreign trade
made 1 trillion 69 billion 260.2 million drams (2 bln 536.2 mln USD)
in January-October 2006. By the data of the RA National Statistical
Service, commodity exports made 340 bln 899.4 mln drams or about 810.9
mln USD (a 2.3% grwoth), while imports - 728 bln 360.8 mln drams or
1 bln 725.2 mln USD (20.9% growth). The foreign trade balance was
negative by 387 bln 461.4 mln drams (914.3 mln USD), that without
goods received as humanitarian aid - 370 bln 473.2 mln drams (874.2 mln
USD). In the indicated period, exports from Armenia to CIS countries
amounted to 164 mln 396.6 thousand USD (10.2% growth), imports -
to 452 mln 771 thousand USD (42.9% growth). Exports to Russia made
93 mln 796.8 thousand USD (1.2% growth), imports from Russia - 243
mln 181.6 thousand USD (17.3% growth). These indices with respect to
Georgia made 43 mln 762.7 thousand USD (13.3% growth) and 57 mln 352.4
thousand USD (50.7% growth). In January-October 2006, exports to EU
countries made 392 mln 198.9 thousand USD (5.1% growth), imports from
these countries - 524 mln 281.4 thousand USD (11% growth). Exports
to Belgium made 93 mln 967.2 thousand USD (13.1% decline), imports -
128 mln 392.5 thousand USD (8% decline). These indices with respect
to Germany made 128 mln 233.9 thousand USD (0.9% growth) and 67 mln
331.9 thousand USD (21.2% decline), regarding Italy - 23 mln 984.9
thousand USD (11.2% growth) and 64 mln 408 thousand USD (82.4% growth),
regarding the Netherlands - 102 mln 428.5 thousand USD (0.1% growth)
and 18 mln 442.3 thousand USD (69.5% growth). Exports from Armenia
to other countries in the first ten months of this year made 254 mln
328 thousand USD (5.9% decline), imports - 748 mln 180.3 thousand USD
(17.3% growth). Including exports to Israel - 89 mln 70.8 thousand USD
(2.4% decline) and imports from Israel - 74 mln 261.4 thousand USD
(12.8%); exports to the US - 51 mln 638.8 thousand USD (2% growth) and
imports from the US - 110 mln 168.5 thousand USD (16.8% growth). The
same indices with respect to Iran made 25 mln 145.7 thousand USD (3.8%
decline) and 101 mln 748.7 thousand USD (23.4% growth), Turkey - 1 mln
539.8 thousand USD (22.2% decline) and 66 mln 179 thousand USD (45.8%
growth), and with respect to Switzerland - 53 mln 898.2 thousand USD
(76.8% growth) and 67 mln 631.3 thousand USD (3% decline).
