ARMENIA TAKES 124TH PLACE IN WORLD BY LEVEL OF PENETRATION INTO INTERNET
Yerevan, December 20. ArmInfo. Armenia takes the 124th place in
the world by the level of penetration into Internet, the data of
the international rating by the "International Telecommunication
Union" are evidence of it. According to the rating, Armenia counts
150,000 users of Internet. The indicator of Internet spread in the
Republic made up 5,03 per 100 people. Armenia, by this indicator,
takes the second place in the region, yielding to Azerbaijan, which
takes the 85th place in the world and the 120th place by the activity
and number of users. Nearly 408.000 users are recorded in Azerbaijan,
while the index of spread makes up 5,6 per 100 people. Georgia takes
the 132th place and the 112th place by the activity ad number of
Internet users. The total number of the Georgian Internet users made
up 176.000 people and the index of spread - 3,75 per 100 people.
In whole, 198 countries of the world participated in the rating. In
the post-Soviet space, Russia is the lead with as great gap -
the 12th and 87th place. The spread index in RF made up 11,5 per
100 people. A rather high indicator was fixed in Baltic countries:
Estonia - the 25th place, Latvia - the 41nd place. As for the other
CIS countries, they turned out to be below the "top 50" level. Thus,
the Ukraine is at the 104th place by activity and at the 25th place
by the number of registered users. Belarus is at the 63rd place and
47th place, respectively. The lowest indicator of Internet users is in
Tajikistan - less than 1 per 100.000 people and only 5.000 registered
users. The leaders by the number of Internet users are New Zealand,
where the coefficient of registered users makes up 79,3 per 100 people
at a total population of 3.200.000 people. The second place is taken
by Iceland - 76,03 per 100 people. The rating of countries by the
number of Internet-providers and active users is headed by the USA -
7.000 providers and 161.632.000 registered users.
