89.6 THOUSAND PEOPLE HAVE STATUS OF UNEMPLOYED IN JANUARY-OCTOBER IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 21, NOYAN TAPAN. In January-October 2006, the average
number of economically active population in Armenia amounted to 1206.4
thousand people, 92.6% or 1116.8 thousand out of which were engaged
in economy and 7.4% or 89.6 thousand were unemployed. The latters were
registered at RA Employment Service agency of RA Ministry of Labor and
Social Issues and received status of unemployed. As of late October,
the number of unemployed people made 87.7 thousand people, 62.8
thousand (71.6%) out of which were women. This index has decreased
by 0.3% as compared with the previous month and increased by 0.9%
as compared with the same month of 2005. According to the data of RA
National Statistical Service, 7 thousand people found job from the
beginning of the year, 4.2 thousand (60%) among which are women.
