IN PASSING YEAR NIKOL AGHBALIAN STUDENT UNION CONTINUED ITS ACTIVE WORK

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 25, NOYAN TAPAN. The most significant of numerous
events organized by Nikol Aghbalian Student Union in 2006 was held
in Javakhk. Vahe Sargsian, member of Union's Board, declared at
the December 25 meeting with journalists. He said that conference
under the title "Javakhk Towards Challenges of 21st Century" was
held in February. Representatives of nearly thirty organizations
discussed problems of Javakhk at the conference. In the passing year
the organization also organized discussions dedicated to Sumgayit
events and destruction of Jugha khachkars (cross-stones), events
dedicated to 50th anniversary of Dro's death. On April 22, the Union
held traditional torch procession dedicated to the memory of victims
of 1915 Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. And on October 13,
a Procession of Gratitude to Embassy of France in RA was held in
connection with French Lower Chamber's adopting a law envisaging
criminal liability for denying the Armenian Genocide the previous day.
Hayk Asatrian, another member of Union Board, informed that the
organization has established close contacts with Dashnaktsutiun's
student unions working in another countries, is also a member
of a number of international youth organizations, takes part in
international socialist forums.
