122 TITLES OF BOOKS TO BE PUBLISHED IN 2007 BY STATE ORDER

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 28, NOYAN TAPAN. The Book Publishing Agency of the
RA Ministry of Culture and Youth Issues envisages in 2007 to publish
122 titles of books for what 135.4 mln drams will be allocated by the
state budget. As Hasmik Poghosian, the RA Minister of Culture and Youth
Issues mentioned at the December 26 press conference, the most part
of books, 40 titles of books, must be published by the state order
from the department of the fiction, and the number of the children's
literature will reduce compared with 2006: 38 titles of children's
books will be published instead of 62 titles of children's books.
Mrs.Poghosian expressed her anxiety in this sense as the issue of the
younger generation's aesthetic education is today one of the primary
tasks of the Ministry. The Minister mentioned that the Book Publishing
Agency published 137 titles of books in 2006 by the state order. The
agency participated in two international big exhibitions in Frankfurt
am Main and in Moscow. The Armenian publishers have great succeses
in the two exhibitions: "The Armenian printing returned its one-time
publishing traditions during the recent years and fixed new successes
in the qualitative sense," the Minister of Culture said.
