ANDREAS DRESEN AND SERGE AVEDIKIAN RECEIVE PRIZES SET BY ASSOCIATION OF FILM
CRITICS AND FILM JOURNALISTS
YEREVAN, JULY 17, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. The annual prizes
"The Best Fiction Film" and "The Best Documentary" set by the
Association of Film Critics and Film Journalists of Armenia within
the framework of the Golden Apricot festival were given on July 15 to
German film director Andreas Dresen, for his film "Summer in Berlin"
and to Armenian film director Serge Avedikian residing in Paris,
for his film "Returning."
According to Association Chairwoman Susanna Haroutiunian, every
year these prizes are received by film directors who have a great
potential to create.
Andreas Dresen is one of the talented film directors of German
cinematography and represents the oriental school in the German
cinematography. "It is a surprise for me to receive this prize, as
I saw many wonderful films in the days of the festival," the German
film director said.
According to Serge Avedikian, the meeting between the film and the
spectator was very important for him, as has started to shoot the
film as far back as 18 years ago: "I did not know it would become a
film, but one thing was very important for me today, this was the
reception of the Armenian spectator," the film director emphasized.
The same day the journalists also met with film director and painter
Rustam Khamdamov, laureate of Triumph and National Cultural Treasure
prizes. His first fiction film and degree thesis, My Heart is in
the Mountains film, became an event of world cinematography exciting
even Fellini and Antonioni.
"I have even done design works. There are film directors who have
created their images themselves, including their clothes and other
necessary things, but in any film it is important to know what
is the beginning and the end and those who know it are talented,"
Rustam Khamdamov said.
