(Rapaport...July 19, 2006) Cut and polished diamond production fell
20.4 percent to $112.5 million mid-year 2006 in Armenia compared with
January through June 2005.
The Armenian Trade and Economic Development ministry's office reported
that sales of cut and polished fell 18 percent to $105 million and
exports fell 20 percent to $102 million.
Armenia attributed the drop in production, sales, and exports to the
world diamond market downturn. Israel and Belgium were Armenia's top
polished diamond destinations.
