NKR FM: "SOLUTIONS MAY BE FOUND ONLY WITH PARTICIPATION OF LEGALLY ELECTED NKR LEADERSHIP"

July 19 2006
Nagorno Karabakh Republic FM Georgy Petrosyan commented on the
statements made in the course of the Great Eight summit held in St.
Petersburg to REGNUM Information Agency. "One may only welcome the
statement of the Great Eight countries on the maintenance of the OSCE
Minsk Group's mediation efforts and the necessity of coordination
of the basic principles of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict's peaceful
settlement. Nagorno Karabakh has always advocated peaceful settlement
of the issue and is ready to do its best to reach an agreement
over establishing long-term peace in the region. Unfortunately,
not everything depends on the mediators. Taking into consideration
Azerbaijan's extremely destructive position, its unwillingness to
contact with Nagorno Karabakh, it is quite hard to find an acceptable
and just solution today. President of the Russian Federation has fairly
noted that Russia will not impose any solution on the conflict parties
and that the compromise must be reached by the nations. Taking into
account the Russian Federation's readiness to become a guarantor
of fulfillment of the agreements, we remind once again that only
with the participation of the representatives of legally elected
leadership of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic that is the main and the
most suffered conflict party it is possible to achieve the solutions,
which immediately concern the future of our country and people".
